Pouco depois, produziu a primeira “vídeo aula” direcionada ao tema no país.</p> <p>A harmônica cromática, apelidada no Brasil de “gaita de chave”, é em geral mais utilizada no jazz, bossa nova, choro, música erudita. Ela possui timbre e características próprias que a diferem bastante da harmônica diatônica, mais utilizada no blues e no rock. A “gaita diatônica” era um instrumento praticamente desconhecido dentro do cenário da música brasileira até o aparecimento de Flávio Guimarães, indiscutivelmente o grande pioneiro na profissionalização desse instrumento no país. O ineditismo de seu trabalho fez com que se tornasse um instrumentista requisitado para dezenas de gravações de discos, trilhas para novelas e séries de TV.</p> <p>O Blues Etílicos alcança grande destaque nos anos 90, com músicas nas rádios e programas especiais na TV Cultura, Manchete e MTV. Graças a Flávio, a harmônica diatônica se populariza no Brasil e uma nova geração de músicos adere ao instrumento.</p> <p>Em 1999, Flávio criou o Encontro Internacional da Harmônica, principal evento temático do gênero na América do Sul, realizado por treze anos seguidos na cidade de São Paulo, no Sesc Pompéia. In 1998, he participated of Harmonica's Night, with Carey Bell and Peter Madcat. In this same period, with a new band, he opened show for B. B. King, in Via Funchal, Brazil. This album has one track dedicated to William Clarke, and the influence cannot be denied, especially on jumpy 3rd position tunes like"Blowin' the family jewels". He has gone beyond that though and the more unusual tracks like the funky instrumental "Berimbau Nao E Gaita" feature really nice playing. This album has one track dedicated to William Clarke, and the influence cannot be denied, especially on jumpy 3rd position tunes like"Blowin' the family jewels". He has gone beyond that though and the more unusual tracks like the funky instrumental "Berimbau Nao E Gaita" feature really nice playing.
