Czechoslovak big band. Formed in 1940, led and conducted by Gustav Brom until his death in 1995. First recordings for ESTA label in 1945.

(Czech jazz combo, active in the 1960s, comprising of the rhythm section and selected soloists of the Gustav Brom Orchestra. Usually they have performed without Gustav Brom’s conducting.)

In 1995 the orchestra has been officially renamed to Gustav Brom Big Band, and since then it is led by Vladimír Valovič. According to their official web site, the orchestra is still considered the very same subject, featuring Jaromír Hnilička as the longest active member since 1956. The orchestra has celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2010.

Since January 2013 until December 2014 the Gustav Brom Big Band performs as the new Czech Radio “resident” big band under the name “Rozhlasový big band Gustava Broma”. --- discogs.com
