Released in 2007 through his own Etage Noir Recordings label, Shine is the third album from Austrian producer, DJ, and electro-swing pioneer Parov Stelar. The follow-up to Seven and Storm features collaborations with Kristina Lindberg ("Come Closer"), Gabriella Hanninen ("Good Bye Emily"), and Luke ("Your Fire"), alongside the singles "Love, Pt 1" and "Shine." ---Jon O'Brien, AllMusic Review

I discovered the music of Parov Stelar in February of this year for my self and "Seven and Storms" is still one of my favorite albums. This album has now a sucessor: Shine. It´s the same mixture of Jazz, Soul and Downbeat that made the first album one of my favorite albums. It´s not as good as it´s first one but it´s still way beyond 95% of the trash that was published this year. My only critic remark to the album is the recycling of some ideas of the first album. You should listen: Your fire, Come closer and Homesick. ---Joerg Moellenkamp, c0t0d0s0.org

Parov Stelar returns with a brand new studio album. Entitled "The Burning Spider" the release opens a new chapter of his samplebased sound.

Whereas Parov Stelar chopped and alienated sampled vocals in the past, he now places the names of the sound donors self-consciously beside his own: Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Lightnin' Hopkins are also on the album as the singer Anduze from the American Virgin Islands, who already worked for Stelar before and who has a key position on "The Burning Spider". And, more or less as a bonus, there are still three "classic" Parov Stelar tracks with a decent portion of Swing on the album, because even if you are developing in giant steps you should not forget where you come from, and swing music is just a part of what Parov Stelar is.

Many aspects of the unique Parov Stelar sound, that the worldwide Parov Stelar fans have been able to cherish and love remain, only influences and references are newly generated once again. On his last albums especially swing references made Stelar a global superstar of a genre, now he offers new sounds with blues and jazz elements to connect the decades. At the same time, he constantly rethinks his own musical history, and longtime fans will rediscover style elements that have been pushed in the background in the past years. ---propermusic.com

Over the years Parov Stelar has meticulously sampled, remixed and referenced some of the most influential sounds of bygone eras, injecting them with a new lease of life and bringing them into modern times. It has become the definition for a certain style, a certain sound, THE Parov Stelar sound. Undeniably unique, countlessly copied but never equalled. He was the gentleman of electro-swing, the soul brother and the phantom of the disco, but now, Parov Stelar is simply himself. Three years after his last album, Parov Stelar returns to the world he created with “The Demon Diaries“, his sixth LP.

The musical demons are not always so dark and evil as they may at first appear. The artist’s restlessness is the driving force in “The Demon Diaries“. While often seen as an affliction, here it acts as the catalyst for creativity, the desire to push things further, to go faster and fly higher than ever before. Where would we be without our inner-demons? Without that desire to test our limits, to go that one-step further than anyone has even been before? But where there is light, there is darkness, something Parov Stelar knows only too well. Those that give themselves fully to the creative Zeitgeist, to the pressures and the strains risk being taken over by the demons inside. Broken promises, dead ends and sleepless nights full of doubt cloud their psyche. The line between party hedonism and melancholy is often a very thin one.

“The Demon Diaries” doesn’t just reveal both faces of the beast, the double album, like previous works “Coco” and “The Princess” also reveals two different aspects of Parov Stelar’s musical genius. The package contains 24 songs with nine guest vocalists.

The “classic” Parov Stelar sound can be found of on the first album, dominated by the crackling and hissing of old vinyl and timeless samples. It is another tour de force of the club music that has sent fans in arenas and on dance floors the world over into musical ecstasy. Hundreds of thousands of fans take the pilgrimage to Parov Stelar shows every weekend, and have been doing so long before the media caught hold of the music. Music for the here and now, the joy of life and ability to let go and be free all come to the forefront.

The 2nd album goes in the opposite direction to its electro-heavy brother. The eleven tracks take the live route, incorporating over 25 musicians using live instruments and often playing in small orchestral formations. Parov Stelar’s darker, more melancholy side shows its face, the dancing shoes have been put swapped for a glass of red wine and a thoughtful, reminiscent mood. Parov Stelar takes his listeners on a journey through the night, and covers them in a warm musical blanket to shield them from the piercing wind, and the demons that rattle against the windowpanes. Their attempts to get in are futile, the music is too powerful, and soon, the sun will rise on another day. --- dailyrecords.at

The Parov Stelar trio is one of the two live set-ups, which accompany Parov Stelar on stage as he travels the world. “The Invisible Girl” marks the trio’s first release in this formation. The roots of their live appearances are clear to hear in the ten (cd) / five (vinyl) tracks. All aspects of melancholy are replaced by a lust for life in a raw, energetic and more direct style than one would normally expect from Parov Stelar. Sold-out shows across the world have proven just how popular Parov Stelar is as the forerunner of a genre which has exploded over the last years. He played a host of shows with the Parov Stelar Trio, especially on the U.S tour and they helped make it an outstanding success. Together with live musicians Jerry di Monza and Max the Sax, Parov Stelar is able to bring the magic of his music to the stages of clubs and festivals across the globe. While Parov Stelar’s solo album is full of delicate, intricately composed songs, “The Invisible Girl” has been inspired by the drive and euphoria of the tour and tries to capture its elements. In order to achieve this, a more intuitive and quicker recording process than usual was needed. All of the instrumentals were recorded within one intensive week in the studio, and the finishing Parov Stelar touches were added during all-night production sessions. The release presents a different aspect of the Parov Stelar sound, which is in keeping with the trio’s live gigs – jazzier, dirtier and a little bit crazier! ---discogs.com

Parov Stelar to austriacki producent i muzyk Marcus Füreder. ---koncertomania.pl
