This is not Donde Estan Los Ladrones or She Wolf.... Oral Fixation or Laundry Service. And certainly not Pies Descalzos. This is a new era in Shakira's life and with a new era comes changes in her persona and her music. We have to understand that Shakira's past albums will never be repeated and it is foolish to yearn for her to do a "Part 2" of something that is over and done. True fans should learn to appreciate what Shakira is doing. Whether it is experimenting with Pop, Dance, Electronic, Hip Hop or Latin music. I personally have enjoyed & embraced every single one of Shakira's albums. Yes, some are stronger than others but they all hold a special place in my life. That being said, I would like to begin my review of Sale El Sol.

I have to say that I am very impressed with this new album. I enjoyed this album since my very first listen. As many other reviewers have stated, Shakira does return to some of her previous roots but at the same time offers something very fresh and new. This album has to be Shakira's most experimental as she explores different genres to bring us a good blend of music. The title track, Sale El Sol, explains that there is hope after our moments of sorrow and that after the storm, the sun comes out. Antes De Las Seis channels the mellow songs featured on Ladrones/Fixation and talks about a person who is being vulnerable and giving their all only to be shun by the other person.

The album also features some fantastic dance songs which are absolutely infectious and impossible not to dance along to. Loca, Addicted To You, Gordita, and Rabiosa are very fast paced and full of energy. Shakira teases with El Cata, Calle 13, and Pitbull to bring a fun filled atmosphere to the album. These songs are meant to make the listener feel as if they were on the dance floor in the way La Tortura, Loba, and Ojos Asi previously did.

Shakira continues to demonstrates that she has a beautiful voice and is able to convey such emotion in songs such as Lo Que Mas where she sings about making the difficult decision to move on from a broken relationship. Devocion and Tu Boca feature a very edgy sound and loud vocals by Shakira which were evident in her Ladrones album while Mariposas brings some of the style that she displayed in Laundry Service.

Sale El Sol also contains remixed versions of Waka Waka and a wonderful cover of the XX's, Islands. Shakira's version has a faster pace and sounds more uplifting than the original.

This album serves as a great summary of the previous albums she has done in the past. Rather than creating a sequel, she borrows elements from past albums to create Sale El Sol. This album has a little bit of everything and doesn't fail to please the listener. Whether you're a die hard fan or a new listener, you will be able to enjoy this album and appreciate the effort that Shakira put into the album.

Sale El Sol is a beautiful set of songs that reminds us how diverse Shakira is. She is not afraid to explore different musical styles and this album is a perfect example. Shakira demonstrates that she will not settle with only one style and will continue to challenge herself to explore other areas. No matter what the next album will bring, Shakira will continue to shine...

Tamte kawałki były mocne, rockowe i z pazurem.

It’s been nearly nine years since Shakira made the transition from Colombian sensation to worldwide star with the release of Laundry Service, her first English album. The move also saw her channeling more conventional pop inspirations than her Spanish albums, and even sporting a new blond hairdo. These moves made her more accessible to broader—and by broader I mean North American—audiences, but, in them, she lost some of her charm. In her two follow-up albums, she continued to make irresistible pop music, but always sounded as if she was trying on someone else’s style. Her forays into R&B were good, but she could do better. Sure, the way she integrated Latin rhythms into her English tunes was fresh, but she wasn’t living up to her potential. The Spanish work she continued to put out during this period always sounded more interesting, but even that wasn’t as good as she could produce. For her latest release, She Wolf, Shakira goes even further from her roots and wanders into electronic-influenced pop, but by doing so she actually sounds more like herself than she has in a while. --- israbox.com
