This album was made after Mylene made her visit to california. She mentioned how she loved being able to walk the streets without being harassed by tons of fans, the way she often is in europe. She being a person who enjoys being solitary at times, it was a really good thing for her... well on with the music... in this album she seems a lot more relaxed, and the songs are not as dark or depressing as the ones on her previous albums. This is like a new Mylene emerging as a woman who has found her place in music and into a category of music with a rock edge to it, something that was absent in the past. again, she does not fail to grow as an artist. My fav tracks are "Alice", "Et tournoie" and "L'instant X"... the video for the latter included a very sexxy Mylene, which i did not mind seeing either :)

The track "XXL" does not fail to empower women either, which again shows how mylene has changed her subject matter in songs compared to her previous ones... this is a true change from "Ainsi-soit je", "Cendres de lune", and "L'autre"... one which i doubt you will find distasteful...

Mylène Farmer is a Canadian-born French pop superstar who rose to fame in the 1980s and topped the charts time and time again for decades thereafter. Known for giving precious few interviews and doing little to no promotion, she is a deeply mysterious figure with a cult following of fans around the world. Videos and concerts are an integral part of her musical act and its inclination toward taboo subject matters such as sex and death.

Born Mylène Jeanne Gautier on September 12, 1961, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, she moved to France at age eight and attended the Parisian drama school Cours Florent as a teenager. While studying to become an actress, she adopted the name Mylène Farmer in tribute to Frances Farmer, an iconic Hollywood actress from the 1930s. Upon meeting fellow Cours Florent student Laurent Boutonnat, Farmer made her recording debut as a pop singer with "Maman a Tort" in 1984. "Maman a Tort" was the first of many Farmer songs composed by Boutonnat, who also directed a risqué video starring Farmer as a Lolita figure in a revealing nightgown. More singles followed, and Farmer eventually scored her first Top Ten hit with "Libertine" in 1986. Her full-length album debut, Cendres de Lune (1986), was released around this same time.

Her second album, Ainsi Soit Je... (1988), spawned her first chart-topping single, "Pourvu Qu'elles Soient Douces," another provocative song with an epic video that ran for nearly 20 minutes and coupled French history with sex and death. As with subsequent albums, all the lyrics of Ainsi Soit Je... were written by Farmer while Boutonnat composed the music and directed the videos. In addition to her recording output, Farmer established herself right away as a dramatic concert performer, releasing the first of many live albums with En Concert in 1989.

Following third album L'Autre... (1991), subsequent studio albums were long awaited, released every half-decade or so. In the meantime, Farmer mounted sold-out concert tours, released an array of live and remix albums, and spent a lot of time out of the public eye. Despite the long absences, her popularity never waned; for instance, her seventh album, Point de Suture (2008), spawned five straight number one hit singles. Farmer returned in the latter half of 2010 and appeared on celebrated French songstress Line Renaud's record Rue Wahington, where she performed a duet and wrote “C’est Pas l’Heure”. The same year she also released her well-received eighth album, Bleu Noir, which topped the French charts for three consecutive weeks. Farmer enlisted Lady Gaga producer RedOne to handle the production and write music for the record, which marked the first material without long-time collaborator Boutonnat. In 2011 a second installment of greatest hits 2001.2011 was released and contains all of her hit singles since 2001 release Les Mots. ---Jason Birchmeier, Rovi

Jej dwa wielkie hity ("Desenchantee" i "Libertine") włączyła do swego repertuaru belgijska piosenkarka, Kate Ryan. ---rmf.fm

Mylenium Tour is Mylène Farmer's 1999-2000 concert tour in support of her fifth studio album, Innamoramento. According to the French magazine Instant-Mag, the "Mylenium Tour is more beautiful [than the 1996 tour] by the originality of the selection of songs, the grandiose stage, an entry even more impressive, and especially an overwhelming and perfect end, perhaps more comparable to that of the 1989 tour." More than 450,000 people attended the concert series that cost more than 20 million euros. A musical channel of the Russian television, MUZ TV, elected "Mylenium Tour" as the best concert in the world. --- moviecritics.co

Mylène Farmer (b. 1961) is a Canadian born French singer, songwriter, occasional actress, and author.

Farmer was born Mylène Gautier on 12th September 1961 in Pierrefonds, Quebec, a suburb (now borough) of Montreal. Her parents had moved from France in the late 1950s as Farmer’s father, Max, pursued an engineering contract on a dam. Her family returned to France when she was eight, settling in the Parisian suburb of Ville d’Avray. In her teenage years, Farmer was passionate about horse-riding, qualifying as a riding instructor at the equestrian centre in Saumur. At seventeen, however, she discovered acting and she abandoned the stables to take a three-year course at the Cours Florent, a drama school in Paris. Changing her name to Mylène Farmer as a tribute to her idol, 1930s Hollywood actress Frances Farmer, she began to earn a living as a model, appearing in several television advertisements.

In 1984, Farmer met Laurent Boutonnat, a young film student also enrolled in Cours Florent, when she replied to a newspaper ad for an actress for a small film he was working on. Farmer and Boutonnat became friends and forged a creative partnership, writing and producing the music. Boutonnat, whose ambition was to become a film director, was the force behind Mylène’s videos. Much of Farmer’s fame and success can be attributed to elaborate and theatrical music videos which are seen as short films.

Farmer gained fame with songs featuring shocking yet poetic lyrics, and explicit music videos: “Maman a tort” was about the love of a young girl for her female hospital nurse. ---last.fm

By 1999, Farmer had barely appeared in the media since her 1996 concerts at Paris-Bercy. The singer spent most of this time traveling many countries (such as China, Ireland, Italy and the United States), where she drew her inspiration for her next album, giving it a greater ethnic orientation. She was also inspired by the books Le Choc Amoureux by Francesco Alberoni, Si c'est un Homme by Primo Levi, and books on Buddhism. While some media announced that the album would be called Immortelles, Mes Moires (according to the magazine Voici), Mémoires and Ensemble, rumor had it that the next album would have more techno sonorities (and the first single would be named "The Small World", according to the Belgian newspaper 7 Extra). It was recorded at studios Ocean Way Recording and Record One in Los Angeles, but mixed at Guillaume Tell studio in Paris.

Finally, the album was released on April 7, almost a month after that of the lead single "L'Âme-stram-gram" and was named Innamoramento, in reference to the book by Francesco Alberoni mentioned above. A quote from this author is also cited at the first page of the album's booklet. The photographs, produced by Marino Parisotto Vay, cost about 104,000 euros. The cover shows Farmer dressed in white on top of an open iron cage in the middle of the ocean. ---wikipedia

This CD, has become one of my most cherished possessions, 'cos this french artist has grown in my soul & spirit, so greatly, that she has transformed in almost like a sort of "muse" of mine.

Seldom I do admit that I'm a fan of an artist, I like many singers a lot, but Mylene is my supreme "goddess". In spite that I understand very little of the french language, there's something in her music, melodies, in her phrasing, voice, etc...that bewitches me. When I listen over and over again, to most of her albums, especially this one, I "fall" like in a "sort of trance". In fact, I've been trying to transalate by myself some of her lyrics, with the aid of a dictionnary, which are very poetic, sophisticated and inspired.

When I first bought the album, I had my "immediate" favorite tracks, most notably the awesome, title song, "Innamoramento", "L'Amour Naissant", "Je Te Rends Mon Amour" (I give you my love?) and "Pas le temps de Vivre" (means something like "There's no time to live"), a wondrous, evocative song.

But then, with the many listenings, plus watching the DVD clips of some of this songs and the Mylenium Tour Concert DVD, which features most of its songs (thanks to Amazon.com France, where I bought these Zone 2, PAL, DVD's), ...this album definitely grew more and more in me...and I haven't get tired of listening to these songs, a thousand times.

Other notable songs (& more rhythmic), are "Dessine-Moi un Mouton", "Mefie-Toi", "L'Ame-Stram-Gram" and "Souviens Toi Du Jour"....BTW "Mylenium" was used as overture for the awesome "Mylenium Tour" 2000 Concert, at good advantage & with great effect, a tune that grows "in crescendo". The opening sequence of the concert is truly, truly remarkable, it should be available for the American Market (Zone 1 NTSC).

It may be not every person's "cup of tea", but if you like Sarah MacLachlan, Enya, or singers like those, give a try to this "ethereal" album of this great "Chanteuse" of French Pop. IMHO, her best studio album to date, followed closely by "Anamorphosée", a different concept album, with stronger guitars and "rockier" songs.

Listening to this cd inspires me, emotions me, makes me happy, hypnotizes me, "transports" me....but beware!, IMHO, to feel the "full effect" of this album, you must listen to it, concentrated, with the volume loud, or better, with your headphones on...it's a complete unique experience. You'll listen to her melodious high-pitched voice at its most glorious. --- Fernando Silva, amazon.com
