The new album is simply called M. This is energetic rock with a difference. Rather than the power coming exclusively from revved up electric guitars, the force comes from the majestic vocals, as muscular as Charles Hamelin’s thighs! The music follows the ice conduit cool of acts like Pat Benatar, Survivor, and Simple Plan, but lighting up the tracks colourfully are meticulous electronic touch ups that make the whole package sound very fresh and addictive. While Marie-Mai’s last album Miroir gave us a little bit of everything, there is more cohesion on M. At the same time, enough variety of moods exist to keep us transfixed throughout the disc.
