DOWNLOAD - the new band from Andy Portmann starts to beat up the Swiss rock and metal scene. Honestly - the bustling singer from Lucerne is not at all a rookie in the business. We know him from different formations in which he allocated his voice in the last three decades. Ain't Dead Yet, Felskinn and his soloproject are named here just to mention a few... "11 Stages" took a long time to see the light of day. But the waiting was worth it. The album is complex and varied, and it combines every trademark from Andy Portmanns career. Straight and unfussy masher with a lot of drive bound forward - balladic midtempo-songs full of atmosphere - but also popping, punk metal with minting twin guitar riffs, promises the interested listeners much melody and catchy music. "11 Stages" is a first-class clearance. They rock detached from stilistic barricades without caring about musical limits. All right - if we look at Mr. Portmanns career, he has always been thinking outside the box. "11 Stages" is the first vital sign of DOWNLOAD, but of course they are going to hit the road very soon for some live shows. The singer rallied a nice group around himself. Dany Zimmermann on drums (ex-Starox and many more), bassist Beat Schaub (Live/Wire, The Force, etc.) and the guitars are taken over by the Maxxwell-double Hef Häfliger and Cyril Montavon. Powerful, ass-beating and with a punch, this promises high-quality pleasure.

--- trespass.ch
