A rather versatile group, I hear many influences in their style. High energy blues-rock similar to Robin Trower\Outlaws\Lynyrd Skynyrd, Texas Blues similar to Stevie Ray Vaughn\old ZZ Top and smooth, English Blues ala Clapton. This CD has immediate appeal upon first listen. This is high quality and very high energy stuff much better than the average blues "bar" band offerings that I run across so often. The only negative is that the high energy wall-of-sound begins to takeover towards the end of the disc and it would have been nice to have some slower numbers in the mix for counterbalance. I highly recommend this CD. --- Music Buff, amazon.com

Mike Onesko is a monster player who over the years must have played with or supported just about every blues and rock legend you can name and then some. A veteran six stringer from the old school of blues-rock, he is the driving force behind Blindside Blues Band and here he and the band tear into a 13 track set list that rarely sees them break sweat.

'Live At The Crossroads' is a chunk of loud intense blues rock that is basically a best of grab bag from a recording career that stretches back to 1993. Originally done for Germany's Rockpalast and recorded in November 2010 at the Crossroads Festival in Bonn, it is a collection of tunes that sees Blindside Blues Band sound take in the boogie of ZZ Top ('Smokehouse Shuffle') and the bluesy molasses-thick rock of the likes of Robin Trower and SRV (everything else).

As far as blues live albums go this is a proficient dose of the stuff. The problem with it is it could be anybody. There are thousands of these outfits knocking about playing the same stuff though admittedly, Blindside Blues Band has to be considered one of the better ones. The band show they are a well drilled outfit that knows exactly what it has to do.

Now, this review only deals with the cd of the official cd/dvd combo as no copy of the dvd was available so what the bells and whistles are I don't know. However, I absolutely recommend you go to the Rockpalast website (http://www.wdr.de/tv/rockpalast/videos) where you can view this gig (and many more besides). It is a good, though unimaginative watch and the band does make it all look too easy. ---Phil Kane, metaltalk.net

Blindside Blues Band is led by Mike Onesko, a true “old school” heavy guitar riffmaster and force to be reckoned with on the guitar who plays the instrument like he means it. Onesko is on a mission to keep Real guitar music alive and he set’s the record straight on the mega-awesome, aptly-titled “Keepers of the Flame” disc. Mikey O. digs deep and delivers some of his best/strongest riffage to date on this serious heavy guitar disc. BBB features long-time, good musical brother and fellow axeripper Scotty J. who nails down some serious, bad-ass, killer bluesy heavy guitar lead action. An excellent classic dual guitar team, Onesko and Scotty J. work well together and give it all they got on this amazing disc. Both guitarists kick serious heavy guitar ass. “Keepers of the Flame” also features the powerhouse rhythm section of Emery Ceo on drums and Kier Staeheli on bass, both excellent players in their own rite who dig in deep and lock down hi-energy, solid, killer heavy rock grooves throughout the disc. As an added bonus Jeff Martin (Badlands / Racer X) and Davey Pattison (Robin Trower / Gamma) land on the “Keepers of the Flame” disc as Special Guests. Jeff Martin plays drums on half the disc and contributes some bluesy harmonica and background vox on several tracks. Martin delivers the “goods” and is a solid man of rock. Davey Pattison lays his awesome, soul-powered vocals down on a deep, amazing, heavy version of the vintage Robin Trower jam entitled “Hannah” which is dedicated to the late, great James Dewar. Mr. Pattison sings his ass off on the track and is one of the greatest, unsung rock vocalists out there. His performance does both the track and James Dewar “musical justice”. Somewhere in Rock Vocal Heaven, Brother James is smiling down upon us. “Keepers of the Flame” also features a way-kool version of “Maybe I’m a Leo” which features Grooveyard Records main man Joe “grOOveDaWg” Romagnola and Mike Varney from Shrapnel Records both rippin’ up their axes on the classic Deep Purple jam. Two Guitar Label dudes rippin’ it up on the same track. How kool is that?!!! Romagnola & Varney are true visionaries of serious heavy guitar rock and they make heavy guitar history with this monumental guitar jam. On top of all the mind-blowing abundance of serious bluesy heavy guitar riffage found on the “Keepers of the Flame” disc and as an added bonus, there is a killer 13 minute (+) live in the studio improv. studio jam entitled “Abbajus” as a Hidden Bonus Track that features the dual drum power of Jeff Martin and Emery Ceo. This is one bad-ass heavy jam that will rip your face off and rock your brain into the ground. Recorded @ Prairie Sun Studios in California and mixed/mastered by the talented Don Moore in Texas, “Keepers of the Flame” is a classic, mind-blowing heavy guitar statement that will stand the test of time. ---cdbaby

Mike Onesko and the Blindside Blues Band's excellent "Tribute to the Blues" featuring 10 ass-kickin' tracks (65 minutes) of smokin', killer, down-home, raw, bluesy heavy guitar jams done up BBB-style that will rock your damn blues away. "Smokehouse Sessions" is a solid mix of way-kool "covers" & "originals" that hit hard and deliver the "Blues" message. Most of the tracks/jams are recorded live in the studio to keep it REAL. Highly recommended to fans of bad-ass, killer hard rockin' blues guitar riffage. Wave your blues guitar freak flag high with BBB on the low-down and dirty "Smokehouse Sessions" disc.

"Raised On Rock", the outstanding 8th studio disc from the Blindside Blues Band, features 12 tracks (74 minutes) of mega-killer, powerful, incredibly solid, blues-based, retro-70s heavy guitar riffage that is all about Keeping the Rock alive. From start to finish, an amazing display of mind-blowing bluesy heavy guitar rock that will stand the test of time.

Fronted by Mike "Rock Machine" Onesko, the seasoned guitar rocker always delivers the riffage that matters and "Raised on Rock" is definitely no exception as the Man digs in deep and nails down his best/strongest disc to date. Onesko is a true Guitar Hero who knows what time of day it is when it comes down to awesome beyond belief riffage that will rock your face off. BBB also features the bad-ass, killer bluesy axerippin' talents of Scotty J. Johnson on second guitar who nails down fantastic, get-down, wah wah-induced, six string "mojo" throughout the amazing new Blindside Blues Band disc. Scotty J. plays his ass off with an abundance of serious, get-down, lead guitar action that is right up there with the best players in the world. Last but not least, Blindside Blues Band features the hard-hitting, hi-energy, powerful "groove machine" in the form of Emery Ceo on Drums and Kier Staeheli on Bass. Both excellent, stand-out players and "good musical brothers" who lock in and nail down the monstrous BBB groove. The year is 2010 and Blindside Blues Band was "Raised On Rock" and is here to save the day with their incredible brand of tremendous dual guitar heavy rock power.

The Blindside Blues Band: "Raised on Rock" disc is a bad-ass slab of killer bluesy heavy guitar rock that is Highly recommended to fans of MOUNTAIN, LESLIE WEST, ROBIN TROWER, CREAM, PAT TRAVERS, DERRINGER, MONTROSE, BOC, MOXY, UFO w/SCHENKER and all other excellent, world-class guitar rockers. Fans of the previous Blindside Blues Band discs will heavily dig the amazing "Raised on Rock" disc.

Mike Onesko and Blindside Blues Band are a true testament that REAL Guitar Rock is still alive: "Raised On Rock" is solid and ballsy to the core. Finally, a band in 2010 that stays true to their blues-based 70s heavy rock roots. God bless BBB for Keeping the Rock alive. ---Editorials Review, cdbaby.com

Awesome fifth studio disc by the BLINDSIDE BLUES BAND, features 11 trax (69 minutes) of killer, bad-ass, straight-ahead, in-your-face, solid bluesy heavy guitar riffage with powerful rippin’ lead guitars that are guaranteed to rock your world. "Long Hard Road" is a classic modern-day heavy guitar riff monster with a way-kool retro-70’s Les Paul through a Marshall vibe. Fronted by Mike "riffmaster supreme" Onesko on guitar & vocals and joined by original killer B.B.B. blues/rock axeripper Scotty J. on guitar and Bill Gressock on 3rd guitar and complete with the powerhouse rhythm section of Emery Ceo on drums and Michael Barrick, the band rip it up and shred their way through a no-holds-barred explosive triple heavy guitar attack that will rip your face off and satisfy even the most hard-core guitar addict. From the killer powerful bluesy riffage of opener "Electric Woman" to the awesome amped-up version of the classic Cream jam "Outside Woman Blues", on through the B.B.B.’s rippin’ heavy version of the obscure U.F.O. with Michael Schenker bluesy heavy guitar rocker "Pack It Up And Go" from the "Obsession" disc, Onesko & Co. mean serious business when it comes down to REAL heavy guitar music on the "Long Hard Road" disc. As an added bonus there is a mega-awesome 15 minute live-in-the-studio improv. power trio jam as a hidden bonus track where brother Mikey O. gets down hard on his guitar with a heavy vintage Trower vibe that sounds like this killer jam landed from 1975!!! The "Long Hard Road" c.d. (their first disc for GROOVEYARD RECORDS, an indie label dedicated to outstanding TOTAL GUITAR music), is definitely their best/heaviest work to date. The BLINDSIDE BLUES BAND: "Long Hard Road" disc is HIGHLY recommended to fans of CREAM, MOUNTAIN, LESLIE WEST, ROBIN TROWER, PAT TRAVERS, MONTROSE, U.F.O. w/ SCHENKER and all other classic heavy guitar rockers. Fans of the previous BLINDSIDE BLUES BAND discs (in particular, the first two B.B.B. c.d.’s) will heavily dig the bad-ass killer heavy-duty hi-powered bluesy riffage that kicks serious ass all over the place on the awesome "Long Hard Road" disc. If you dig outstanding bluesy heavy guitar riffage, do yourself a favor and take a "musical ride" down the "LONG HARD ROAD" with the BLINDSIDE BLUES BAND who definitely KEEP THE ROCK ALIVE with their awesome brand of classic bluesy riff heaviness. ---Editorials Reviews
