The eponymous debut album from YouTube sensation and America's Got Talent quarterfinalist Lindsey Stirling -- the colorful and uncommonly spirited classical, hip-hop, rock, country, modern dance, and Legend of Zelda/Elder Scrolls-loving violinist -- features ten original tracks that dutifully reflect all of those aforementioned styles and influences with moxie to spare. Propelled by the engaging electronic and dubstep-infused single "Crystallize," which yielded 11 million views in less than two months when it was released in its video form in early 2012, Stirling's debut carves out a unique new niche in the classical crossover genre. ---James Christopher Monger, AllMusic Review

Given the uptick in popularity of genre bending artists, it is basically a travesty that violinist Lindsey Stirling hasn’t been featured on here yet. You might know the story – a Mormon violinist in her early twenties decided to try out on America’s Got Talent as a “hip hop violinist.” After achieving moderate success on the show and the obligatory put-down by Piers Morgan, she took to social media to spread her brand of genre-fusion violin-based compositions, free from the influence of anyone and free to be her quirky self. The rest is history, folks. Just look at the millions of YouTube views and you’ll see why. I mean, the fact that she’s very attractive certainly helps but I was referring to the musical talent. Really.

After social media notoriety and a refreshed reputation as a “dubstep violinist,” she has one nationwide tour and a debut LP full of original compositions under her belt. I’m going to address potential criticism right off the bat. Naysayers will (and probably already have) argue(d) that the combination of violin with modern ambient electronic music is forced. Let me introduce a thought – maybe it only sounds forced because you haven’t heard it done that way before. Unfamiliarity is a concept that can be a toss-up between what way it rubs someone. Well, I’ll say that it rubs me the right way!

Cliche as it may seem, “epic” is actually the perfect adjective to describe the record. The most publicized track is “Crystallized” and with good reason – it explores in full all the dimensions of Stirling’s music. I should add another word of caution here though – any Skrillex mega-fans looking for huge bass-drops might be disappointed with the sound of the record. The dubstep influence is more subtle, but definitely there. Overall though, the electronic influence is more along the lines of say, something from AVICII than Skrillex. Also, while the album isn’t completely without human vocals, the vocals are never the focal point of the music. The album is both soundtrack ready as the score of a sci-fi motion picture and club ready. Look out “Sandstorm” – one of these tracks could easily take your place, with their impeccably placed build-ups to a primary theme (see “Moon Trance” or “Minimal Beat”). Whether or not this genre fusion will be a passing fad, I cannot say. What I can say is that this album will not be a passing fad in my music library. Perhaps you’ll agree. ---iamtunedup.com

Lindsey swoją drogę rozpoczęła już w wieku pięciu lat, kiedy rozpoczęła grę na skrzypcach. Długo skupiała się na muzyce poważnej, jednak w wieku 16 lat rozpoczęła eksperymenty muzyczne, dzięki którym zdobyła tak dużą popularność.

Sławę przyniósł jej program America Got Talent w 2010 roku, kiedy została odrzucona w ćwierćfinale. Od tego momentu, przede wszystkim dzięki bezspornej potędze serwisów społecznościowych i portalowi youtube, Lindsey może mówić o swoim prawdziwym debiucie.

Płyta już dawno za naszą zachodnią granicą osiągnęła status złotej, co w przypadku skrzypaczki jest powodem do dumy dla artystki. Kiedy po raz pierwszy usłyszałam kawałek “Electric Daisy Violin” nie dowierzałam, że taka kompilacja mogła by mi się spodobać. Ale właśnie tak było! Oczywiście obawiałam się słuchając dalej, że zapowiadane przez moich znajomych rytmy dubstepu zniszczą całą radość, jaką zyskiwałam z każdym kawałkiem. Na szczęście nie!

Na płycie znalazły się utwory, których wcześniej nie znałam – takie, jak “Zi-Zi’s Journey”. I właśnie tak mogłabym scharakteryzować każdy z kawałków na płycie Lindsey: podróż. Każdy z nich opowiada jakąś historię, każdy gdzieś prowadzi.

Korespondencja muzycznych stylów nadaje tej płycie niepowtarzalny klimat, dzięki któremu chce się jeszcze więcej. Moim ulubionym kawałkiem jest liryczny “Song of the Caged Bird” natomiast zapętlanym na mojej playliście kawałkiem pierwszy z tracklisty “Electric Daisy Violin”. Piosenka dodająca energii, wywołująca uśmiech na twarzy. Idealna na rozpoczęcie dnia- niezależnie od zapowiadanej prognozy pogody potrafi doładować na cały dzień.

Już nie mogę sie doczekać kolejnego krążka z niesamowitymi featuringami takimi, jak “We Found Love”, “Party Rock Anthem” czy “Radioactive”. Lindsey Stirling to zaraz po Vanessie Mae i Cait Lin kolejna perfekcyjnie władająca smyczkiem artystka, która nie boi się ekseprymentować. I świetnie jej to wychodzi. Drugi album tryskającej energią skrzypaczki! Za sprawą swojego hitu „Crystallize” (ponad 90 milionów odsłon na Youtube!) Lindsey Stirling błyskawicznie podbiła cyberprzestrzeń zdobywając miliony fanów na całym świecie. Wydana w ubiegłym roku debiutancka płyta artystki („Lindsey Stirling”) osiągnęła w Polsce status Złotej ! Lindsey cieszy się uznaniem nie tylko w rodzimych Stanach Zjednoczonych, ale również Niemczech, Szwajcarii, Austrii i Polsce, gdzie Lindsey gościła już dwukrotnie.

Swoją przygodę z muzyką Lindsey Stirling rozpoczęła jako dziecko, od najmłodszych lat ucząc się klasycznej gry na skrzypcach. Dorastająca w niekonwencjonalnych warunkach artystka (w komunie mormonów w Arizonie) bliska była już porzucenia instrumentu na rzecz kariery terapeutki. Na szczęście jednak dla jej fanów miłość do muzyki wzięła górę. Lindsey postanowiła spróbować szczęścia w amerykańskiej wersji programu „Mam Talent”. Mimo, że udział w programie okazał się gorzkim doświadczeniem – Lindsey odpadła w ćwierćfinale po tym jak jeden z jurorów zawyrokował, że na scenie muzycznej nie ma miejsca dla tańczącej dub-stepowej skrzypaczki. To paradoksalnie jednak stało się dla Lindsey impulsem do komponowania własnych piosenek.
