The modern jazz trio The Bad Plus has been making a spicy blend of jazz and rock since 2000. The group has breathed sparkling new life into David Bowie and Nirvana songs. But its members also write original compositions, like their latest release Inevitable Western. During their live performances spontaneity abounds, but they also have as much subtlety as depth. With Joshua Redman The Bad Plus have found the ideal fourth man. As one of the most respected jazz saxophonists, he surprises us time and again with his robust sound and style filled with soul. Redman’s music follows different musical paths: bop, funk, pop and fusion. He has already released 15 albums and has two Grammy Awards on his mantlepiece. His latest album is called Trios Live and it received rave reviews. In 2012 Redman also performed at North Sea Jazz with The Bad Plus. Together they are pushing back the boundaries of jazz. ---northseajazz.com
