A blues band who, for over 30 years, have played expressive music with elements of rhythm and blues, soul, funky and some kinds of jazz. The and was started by two brothers, Andrzej and Marian Malcherek at the end of 1979. They had the honor of being laureates of actually all rock and blues festivals organized in Poland since 1983. Apart from their original music, their repertoire offers extraordinarily performed pieces of J. Hendrix and Deep Purple. They toured with Tadeusz Nalepa, Stan Skiby, Leszek Cichonski, Carlos Johnson, Jan Izba Izbinski, Slawek Wierzcholski, Taj Mahal, Chris Farlowe (Colosseum), Steve Morse and Ian Paice (Deep Purple). The band supported the concerts of Deep Purple, John Scofield, John Mayal, The Animals and John Winter. Free Blues Band’s uniqueness is enhanced by the fact that Hammond organs are played by the only Polish Hammond playing woman, Agnieszka Malcherek.

For 18 years they give regular concerts on every Friday in their own club, Free Blues Club in Szczecin.

Band was started in 1979 and it’s called Free Blues Band. Now it is one of the best rhythm & blues bands in Poland. It has played on all important blues and rock festivals in Poland. The band was repeatedly awarded and has received many positive reviews from the critics. We regularly play in my club (www.freebluesclub.pl) as well as in other various places in Poland and in such foreign others countries as:Germany, Norway (Nottoden Blues Fest), Holland, Lithuania, Latvia and Russia. We played with Carlos Johnson, Stan Skibby, Taj Mahal, Leszek Cichonski, Tadeusz Nalepa (like his band)& many others. In 2004 Free Blues Band played with Steve Morse - the guitarist from Deep Purple before the main show and supported Deep Purple at the stadium in Szczecin. In November 2004 we finished our 14 day-tour with Chris Farlowe & Norman Beaker Band in Poland. In October 2005 we gave two concerts with Deep Purple drummer, Ian Paice. Also in November 2009 we played with Ian Paice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2LO0z6ueEE) and in November 2008 we supported John Scofield & Piety Street Band in Free Blues Club. At 16th of June we had opportunity to support John Mayall also in Free Blues Club.

Free Blues Band plays rhythm and dancing kinds of blues with funky, soul and jazz elements, using its own compositions and famous blues & rock classics.14 Deep Purple songs has been recently added to the band’s repertoire. The band performs at big festivals and in small clubs. We easily come into contact with audience. We recorded five albums with our own songs, the last one was called “Big Game”. At the end of year we will have our new CD ready, it is entitled “Casper The Cat” and Chris Farlowe (legendary singer of Colosseum) sang one of our songs : “I don’t care”). ---southernbluesrock.blogspot.com
