SATYRIAN is an international gothic rock band, combining dark atmospheric lyrics with wave, rock, classical orchestration, piano and heavy guitars.

The story of their new album “Eternitas” goes back to December 2002, when the band started recording at the Spacelab Studio in Germany. Though at the time they called themselves Danse Macabre, these were the early days for SATYRIAN. Recordings started with drummer Merijn Mol (Danse Macabre, The Dreamside), bassist Milos Marisevic (Danse Macabre) and composer / guitarist Jan “Örkki” Yrlund (Danse Macabre, ex- Lacrimosa, Prestige, Imperia, Angel, Delain). Piano and some clean vocals were supplied by producer Oliver Philipps (also in Everon). The band invited Kemi Vita (The Dreamside) as guest vocalist. Judith “Ciara” Stüber also took part in recording; she’d already joined the band for three songs on their previous album “Eva.” ---darkgrove.net

 

Historia Danse Macabre sięga pierwszej połowy lat 90., kiedy to Gunther Theys, lider belgijskiej blackmetalowej formacji numer jeden czyli Ancien Rites, postanowił stworzyć wspólny projekt z luminarzami sceny greckiej - Sotirisem (Septic Flesh) i George Zaharopoulosem (Necromantia). Skończyło się na singlu, który co prawda został nagrany, ale nigdy nie ujrzał światła dziennego... Uparty Gunther powrócił do pomysłu kilka lat później, tym razem zapraszając do współpracy muzyków z północy Europy - Fina Jana "Örkki" Yrlunda (związanego wcześniej m.in. z Lacrimosą) oraz Belga Rafa Cortena. W tym składzie (plus zaproszeni goście) powstał pierwszy album Danse Macabre, zatytułowany "Totentanz", wydany w 1997 roku przez firmę Mascot.

Pod koniec 2001 roku Danse Macabre wraca w odmienionym składzie (nie gra już Corten, natomiast stałe posady otrzymali holenderski perkusista Merijn Mol i obsługujący bas Jugosłowianin Milos Maricevic) i w barwach nowej wytwórni. Częste zmiany chyba wychodzą grupie na dobre, bo muzyczna zawartość "Eve" świadczy o dojrzałości i wyjątkowości zespołu, który choć tworzy na zjeżdżonym wzdłuż i wszerz pograniczu metalu i gotyku, potrafił znaleźć własną ścieżkę. Zaskakuje głos Gunthera, bardziej przypominający zmysłowy i głęboki śpiew Eldritcha, niż skrzek, który jego właściciel forsuje w Ancient Rites. Na płycie gościnnie zaśpiewała Antoinette Legel (na co dzień związana z formacją Malochia) oraz niejaka Ciara , a na fortepianie zagrał Oliver Phillips (Everon). Nagrań dokonano w niemieckim studiu Spacelab, a produkcją zajął się Christian Moos we współpracy z zespołem. ---muzyka.interia.pl
