This is a collection of original songs, all written by me, that speak of love in all it's various forms: young romantic love, unrequited love, betrayed love, the hunger for love, and love lost though leaving, whether it be temporary "owls will leave their babies to hunt for their food in the dark", changing, from a child's total reliance on his or her mother to growing up and finding friends and new loves of their own, leaving home, whether to marry or "just to roam", all the way to the finality of love lost through death. It speaks of the darkness and danger of the femme fatale and black widow, whether metaphorical, allegorical, or literal; of both the mourning of death and the celebration of life; of the romantic memories of a bygone era when you were young and met and fell in love during waltzes held at everything from village inns to governor's balls. You hear the innocence and excitement of childhood, when Santa Clause is real and leaving out warm milk and cookies "to give him strength and nourishment for work yet to be done" is serious business indeed. It speaks of the playfullness of a man meeting the Easter Bunny years later after childhood. There is comedic nonsense on here, like some of the songs on Bob Dylan and The Band's album The Basement Tapes. "Mailbox Epic" owes a debt of gratitude to Dylan's "Clothesline Saga". One song spoofs those attention seekers and con artists who give pompous predictions of just when Armaggedon is going to happen, all the way down to the exact day and time.

Many of the songs are highly lyrical, some even poetical. None of them are contrived, either to be hits (although I certainly hope some or all of them are!) or to please others. They are authentic expressions of themes of my life and my feelings when I was writing them. And much more. Enjoy. ---Album Notes, cdbaby.com
